Bird, fowl, poultry – linnu viisil elama: lit. to live in the way of a bird, i.e. to live from hand to mouth. Joined together, Linnu tee becomes Linnutee (The Milky Way), sometimes also known as Piimatee (Milk Road, in Vigala), Linnurada (Bird Path, in Emmaste), as well as Kuretee (Stork Road), Taevapeenar (Heavenly Plant-Bed) elsewhere, etc.. 1) Pear; 2) Lightbulb – Kellelegi pirni panema is to play a practical joke on someone, take someone for a ride, or make someone’s life miserable.

Poppy. At least ten genera of plants produce poppies, but the one referred to is probably the good old opium poppy, Papaver somniferum, whose seeds are used in many a fine Estonian cake. One of the Lilleküla flower street-name group. See Tulbi.
